Random: Chinese New Year countdown 2

So it's exactly 5 days to go...
I'll post pictures so you can see what I do during the festive. I promise this time I'll take lots of pictures. One thing I can't show you is my families and relatives face. They are so sensitive about posting their face online. They will hunt me down if I do. XD
Anyways, wishing everyone who reads this a Happy Chinese New Year!
新年快乐!

Have a nice day!!

Random: Little more on what Chinese New Year is

I don't really know much on Chinese traditions because nobody would tell me so here's what I know...

The Chinese New Year is also known as Spring Festival and it is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. The festival starts on the first day of the first month in the Chinese calender and ends with a Lantern Festival which is on the 15th day also known as Chap Goh Meh.
During Chinese New Year's Eve, Chinese families gather together for their annual reunion dinner.

People will pour out their money to buy presents, decoration, material, food, and clothing. It is also the tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of "happiness", "wealth", and "longevity"(My family don't spend that much on decoration). On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper is a feast with families. Food will include such items as pigs, ducks, chicken and sweet delicacies(My grandmother always cook her specialties and my favorite foods because I'm her "golden" grandchild, :D). The family will end the night with firecrackers(Love this part, my neighbors go all out on fireworks, so the whole neighborhood is filled with all kinds of fireworks and the next day, everyone's floor is filled with the fireworks' red residue but nobody would clean up because people believe it's "bad" luck if you do, but I think most people are just lazy or busy to clean it up). Early the next morning, children will greet their parents by wishing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes(I don't really greet on the next day, I usually do it before I sleep after the fireworks and I normally get my red packets the previous day during the reunion dinner).
The Chinese New Year tradition is a great way to reconcile; forgetting all grudges, and sincerely wish peace and happiness for everyone(I just wished people because it's my way of saying Hello, Nice to see ya again or Give me ang pow...haha... at least that's just me) Most importantly, the first day of Chinese New Year is a time when families visit the oldest and most senior members of their extended family, usually their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents. Some families may invite a lion dance troupe as a symbolic ritual to usher in the Lunar New Year as well as to evict bad spirits from the premises(My cousins used to participate in the lion dance, but they quit already). Members of the family who are married also give red envelopes containing cash to junior members of the family, mostly children and teenagers(The part I love the most, receiving money! Luckily I'm not married yet or anytime soon). Business managers also give bonuses through red envelopes to employees for good luck and wealth(This doesn't happen for all business managers, only those that believe in the act or they are generous).

If you want to see the celebration and not from countries and territories with significant Chinese populations
, visit your local Chinatown! BTW>This year's Chinese New Year is on February 3rd.

My life me: It's somewhat scary

It was Friday yesterday and my mum and I were heading to a "talk" at MBKS Auditorium organised by the Kuching Autism Association about something about realizing your full potential with fun and laughter(or something like that, can't remember the title)
My mum bought the tickets from a good family friend who was a member of the association, but she didn't even know what it's about. All we know it's suppose to be funny.
So before we went to the place, my mum and I went somewhere to have dinner. We decided to go Kenyalang Park to eat dinner because my mum had to send some Chinese New Year goodies to one of the doctor(my mum is the "postman" for my aunty). Kenyalang was near there and I wanted to buy something from there. Kenyalang is the best place to get like cloths, buttons and other crafty things related to cloth and you also can get sweets and other Chinese New Year things. So we when there to have dinner. I rarely go to Kenyalang let alone eat there. So far I've drink there once and last night I ate there. I think that will be my first and last time.
So here the story goes, my mum and I were having dinner and we sat near a table filled with 3 guys who smoked and played with the local stray dogs there. I think the dogs there are very close with the people there(those that always eat at the coffee shop). Suddenly this guy walk pass(I think he's one of the lunatics that roam around Kuching town), and those 3 dudes started making the dos go after that guy, like to mess with him, knowing the dogs don't like him. So this crazy dude use his so lame "kungfu" moves to "protect" him from the dogs. The dogs went crazy and started barking super loud running here and there and the 3 dudes laugh laugh laugh.
It was scary to eat there. Well, I don't like wild dogs barking crazily and you shouldn't mess with angry dogs. And I started most people started eating faster and started leaving like they were scared too. So my mum and I couldn't enjoy our dinner and had to leave. So we were hungry throughout the "talk".
So I will never eat at Kenyalang Park every again.
That's the story.

Have a nice day!!

Movie Review: When in Rome

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!

Funny how she can't break the vase and the dude can... Haha..
It's a romantic comedy.
I love how Kristen portrays her character.
Love Kristen Bell since I first saw her in Gracie's Choice. Can't believe she is with Dax Shepard.

My rating:
4 stars

Movie Review: Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas

I give it a 1.5 star rating because I like some scenes and for effort. I might change the ratings if someone would explain this movie to me.

Movie Review: Gulliver's Travels

haha~ Liliput!

Gulliver's Travels is a fantasy comedy film and sort of based on the 18th century novel of the same name. The film takes place in the modern era.

I love the pre-show show. You know how Ice Age always show short films of the squirrel who loves his nuts and always attempt to get it? Well, for the fourth film, it's freaking hilarious. My favorite one-for now.

Anyways, back to the movie... I really really really wanted to watch it and when I did, didn't regret it. Mostly it's because Jack Black stars in it and Emily Blunt-love her. An AWESOME movie.
I declare that Gulliver's Travel is a must watch movie!

It's funny. It also shows about a man who feels like a loser and for once he would like to be the "bigger" man.

It's worth watching...

My rating: 5 stars

Have a nice day!!

Movie Review: Expecting Mary

I watched this on television(formally Hallmark now DIVA universal).
Initially, there was nothing on, no nice shows, so I decided to channel surf and came across this movie. What attracted me to this movie was this cute little piglet (If you watched the movie, you'll know what I mean). What attracted me even more to the movie was the person holding the piglet, High School Musical star Olesya Rulin. What attracted me even more than Oleysa was the guy she was talking to in a scene.

This movie is about a young girl, who's had all the trappings of an upscale life, but it's only when she finds herself in a small New Mexico town, in a downtrodden trailer park, that she learns the real meaning of love, sacrifice and family.

It's a lovely story. I recommend it. If you are the kind of person who thinks lovely plots are lame then you shouldn't watch it.

It has kinda of a moral value. Like, mothers, you need to be there for your kid, especially your daughters.

My rating: 4 stars
Anyways, that's all I gotta say. For now. PEACE!!

Have a nice day!!

Movie Review: Diary of a Wimpy Kid

This isn't so much of a movie I watched recently, but it was a less than a month duration.

Anyways, I've been wanting to watch this movie for a long long time and finally I get to after my exams when I found the DVD at someone's house...

I didn't like it as much as I thought it would be but I sort of enjoyed it?

haha~~ THE CHEESE!!!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid tells a story of a boy called Greg Heffley. It tells about his first year of middle school and he writes it in his journal and in cartoon form.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is like real life story meets comedy... It show the story of a typical boy who is kinda a loser in school... It's a normal thing. Young boy in school, not popular, not socially good, not academic wise...

It's one of the funny kind of movie but I don't find it that funny but it is funny. Get it? It's sort of funny. I dislike his elder brother though. He's so mean but I like the part where he tricked Greg that he was still standing at the door where he isn't. I like his little brother though. He's so cute. Greg is somewhere in between his elder brother and the younger one. Greg's kinda cute but he is mean too. You see where he doesn't value his friendship with Rowley. He lied so he can get out of trouble and put the blame on his only best friend. Furthermore, he had another friend, Angie but totally ignores her as a friend.
I think this movie can show great value to many others. It shows that friendship is more important than popularity. Popularity doesn't mean you are gonna have friends. It usually means getting fake friends. Get my point? For a person like Greg, if you don't value your friendship, you don't have anything. Even though you may have lame friends but hey, they are your real friends.

My rating: 4 stars

Also, tune in to know when I post my video. I'm doing a cover on the soundtrack.

Have a nice day!!

Movie Review: The Last Song

What is up with this movie? They break up make up break up make up... Sheesh... It's like the same with Dear John. I know that they are from the same author and have more or less the same plot but try make it interesting at the beginning because there are people out there where if you don't impress them at the starting point, chances of them not continuing the story are high.

My feelings towards The Last Song is the same with Dear John.
The difference is that, in The Last Song, I only liked the movie starting somewhere in the middle of the story, whereas Dear John, I like the starting and slightly like the ending. Notice I said like instead of love. That's how bad.
I'm sure the original novels are more interesting than the movie. Except The Notebook. I think most people love that movie.

Anyways, back to The Last Song.
I think the character Ronnie shall be a good example to girls everywhere. It shows that even if you are a bad person, it's never too late to turn over a new leaf. This story shows that we should love our family and appreciate every moment you have with your family. I love the relationship Ronnie and her brother Jonah have and what Jonah have with his father. AND WHAT WITH RONNIE'S FRIEND?!! Can't she see that her boyfriend sucks? Love is blind yo!-At least in her case and some other people in the world... haha

Too bad Ronnie's father die. He's a good man. Anyway the author love making the main character suffer in some ways... haha... He has his ways in writing a novel. A trade mark...

My rating : 3.5 stars

Movie Review: Charlie St. Cloud

So recently I've been watching a few movies but I'm gonna do the reviews one by one...

I'm gonna talk about Charlie St. Cloud first.

I've been waiting for this movie for quite awhile and I finally got the chance to watch it. Bought the DVD and watch it that evening. (^_^)

I think this is a wonderful story about family, but most important, sibling love and trusting "instincts"... It's kinda creepy that you can see dead people and you are not sure whether the person is dead or not. I guess it's not that much creepy if it's someone you love or in the female lead actress' case, someone you like.

I think this movie has a good lesson. I tells us that we should let go of the ones that "left" but still keep them in our hearts.

It's kinda creepy how Charlie made love with Tess when her actual body is not with him and why is Charlie's mother not there for him. She should at least call him more often.
Anyways, this movie is good for Zac Efron. It shows a better side of him instead of the whole musical thingy. Not that I don't like High School Musical. It's just that I want to see him act more. I love the movie 17 again even though my friends and cousin think it's stupid. We have different taste and it's a good thing.

My rating : 4.5 stars
